Buyer FAQ

Technical information for natural dye importers and textile manufacturers.

Why paste instead of powder?
Natural indigo paste is the most stable form for preserving the live pigment after fermentation. It dissolves more easily into the dye vat compared to powder, ensuring a more even and vibrant color distribution.
What is the shelf life?
When stored in its original airtight container in a cool, dark place, our indigo paste maintains its potency for up to 12 months. Once opened, it should be used within 3-4 months for best results.
Is it 100% natural?
Yes. Our indigo is extracted solely from the leaves of the Indigofera tinctoria plant. We use only natural lime (calcium hydroxide) in the precipitation process, with no synthetic chemicals or dyes added.
How do I prepare the dye vat?
Indigo is a vat dye and must be reduced (de-oxygenated) to become soluble. We provide detailed vat preparation protocols using traditional natural reducers (like palm sugar) or modern methods.
